In this video you will listen to 10 steps used in the process of assessing evidence of student learning based on a rubric developed for a specific assignment. The video uses a written task based on the ability to learn ethical behavior. The video uses SLO, Student Learning Outcome. Adapting the idea for your classroom replacing the written assignment with video as a medium of gathering evidence, you will be able to develop a strategy that works for you. The focus will be to review a student's performance to measure their ability to learn expected behaviors and knowledge based on the assessment criteria you establish for the task.
1. With your Flip camera, you decide what it is you want to assess.
2. Set up a task or scenario in which you are able to capture student(s) performing the skill or reflecting on the knowledge to be learned.
Examples: Students performing a song, counting to 20, reading a story, talking about a book they read, demonstrating how to solve a problem, performing a lab disection, or a group of students discussing a point of interest.
3. Develop a rubric that measures the level of performance for the task. Examples of rubrics can be found at the Regina Public Schools website

You might use one or more of these options and compare them for a final assessment.
